Physical Demands Analysis and Job Analysis by Genex

Gain a detailed description of essential job functions and the physical demands needed to perform them.

Overview

A Physical Demand Analysis (PDA) helps you with hiring, return-to-work, and any modifications you may need to make. The service gives you a description of essential job functions and the physical, environmental, and psychological requirements needed to perform them.

Genex evaluates tasks based on each job and on the business necessity. Their evaluations require time and depth to meet the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). They focus on evaluating job tasks that meet the definition of an "essential function” and can be functionally tested by medical professionals.

The Physical Demand Analysis service will:

  • Define the physical abilities needed to perform the essential functions of a job
  • Define the essential functions in a non-discriminatory ADA-compliant way
  • Provide the documents for pre-hire and post-offer employment testing
  • Provide the documents to help adjusters and physicians match an employee’s abilities to a job’s demands
  • Enable consistent treatment for all injured workers in a job title
  • Enable a faster return to work and case closure, reducing costs.

How does it work?

Genex will schedule preliminary phone calls with your leadership team to discuss job titles, review previous job description documentation, and schedule the on-site visit. During the visit, Genex will work with your HR and EHS teams as well as your supervisors to determine the essential functions of a job, define each physically distinguishable task, and identify the physical requirements to accomplish the tasks.

Job task measurements will include a range of factors such as external loads, weights, heights, frequencies, spatial considerations, and the forces produced or overcome. Genex will provide customized reports that define each “Essential Function” under the ADA guidelines and outline all the job tasks and the associated physical demands.  All reports are provided digitally and can be cataloged in a job bank. Genex can also include digital images of tools and equipment in the reporting.
