Slip, Trip & Fall Prevention: Training
Train-the-trainer program establishes the foundation of a slip, trip and fall prevention program.
Overview
No matter what industry you are in, slips, trips and falls (STF) account for one of the greatest workers’ compensation and general liability exposures. This can have a significant financial impact on your business. In the U.S., over 8 million people are injured by slips, trips and falls every year, according to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control.
Our risk engineers provide safety training using Zurich’s 10-point slip, trip and fall contributing factor rating system. The program gives attendees a logical process to identify areas that have the greatest potential for a slip, trip and fall incident.
The Zurich 10-point method of evaluating areas starts with understanding the contributing risk factors that commonly combine to cause a slip, trip and fall event. Zurich Risk Engineering reviews these contributing factors throughout the training, taking both a classroom and physical approach.
Many factors contribute to slip, trip and fall incidents. This training is designed to help you and your management teams become self-sufficient in better controlling these exposures. It provides a logical process to identify areas at your location that have the greatest potential for slip, trip and fall occurrences. It also shows you how to prioritize hazards and develop action plans to help control slip, trip and fall losses in those areas.
The training is typically provided to Departmental Managers, Safety Committee members, and people in similar roles. Following a review of Zurich’s 10-point slip, trip and fall program, the trainees will evaluate designated areas, completing the STF evaluation form. Photos are taken and the group will present their findings, contributing factor ratings and risk reduction solutions. Finally, we will review the action plans for any physical and/or administrative changes that may be needed to mitigate STF incidents.
