Personal Protective Equipment Assessment

Personal Protective Equipment Assessment

Assess your hazards and PPE needs to help ensure employee safety, remain compliant and help reduce injuries and incidents.

Overview

A Personal Protective Equipment Assessment (PPEA) is required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Zurich Resilience Solutions (ZRS) can help you assess your operations to identify any hazards, along with the types of PPE that you will need to protect against them.

Understanding and controlling your basic hazard exposures is important in helping to keep employees safe and healthy. Putting a proactive process in place can help you understand and control any exposures, and help you assess hazards related to your operations. The process can also lead to implementation of the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in situations where it’s not possible to remove or abate the hazard.

We can help you carry out a PPE Assessment either onsite or via virtual assessment visits. We also offer train-the-trainer options designed to empower your employees to assess their workplace themselves.

The ZRS PPE Assessment can offer several benefits:

  • Receive assessments and training structured to your particular needs
  • Help enhance compliance with applicable OSHA standards stated in 29 CFR 1910.132 and 29 CFR 1926.28
  • Assist in improving your health, safety and environmental (HSE) and Loss Control performance to best in class
  • Help reduce the number of loss incidents occurring in your workplace
  • Showing your employees you care and that a proactive HSE culture is important

What is the difference between a PPE Assessment (PPEA) and a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)?

A JHA identifies any potential hazards or exposure opportunities present in a particular job task and recommends controls that you can use to abate or eliminate them. The recommendations may include engineering controls, work environment conditional controls, job task behavioral controls, etc. Organizations normally use JHAs to develop safe working practices to inform employee training.

This solution is available in the United States but may not be available in other jurisdictions. For solution needs outside the United States, contact Zurich to be connected with a Zurich Resilience Solutions representative where available.
