Stretch & Flex by Genex
Reduce soft tissue injuries by implementing a customized Stretch and Flex program based on your physical job demands
Overview
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ 2019 data shows that sprains, strains, and tears are the most-common type of workplace injury (31%), with slips, trips, and falls accounting for nearly a third of them (27.5%). Risk factors such as poor body mechanics, repetitive motion, force, duration, and material handling all contribute to these injuries.
Personal factors such as aging, stress and posture, as well as medical conditions like obesity and diabetes, can also play a part, leading to more frequent or more severe injuries.
One way to reduce the frequency and severity is by setting up a customized Stretch and Flex program. Genex's program aims to provide job-specific stretching routines to help reduce the number of soft tissue injuries and boost your employees' overall fitness and motion.
Genex recommends that stretching programs, including static and dynamic exercises, should be designed specifically to meet the needs and physical demands of the work environment. For most adults, stretching will also help to improve their balance and postural stability as they get older.
How does it work?
Genex will schedule preliminary phone calls with your leadership team to discuss the service, arrange the site visit, and plan activities. During the visit, Genex will work with HR, EHS, and leadership to review the essential functions and physical demands of the jobs, decide on the settings and background for stretching, and then take photos of your employees performing the designated stretches. Genex can record film video footage for your training materials if you need them. The team will also provide a train-the-trainer session during the initial visit so you can manage your own stretch and flex activities internally.
After the site visit, Genex will develop stretch and flex materials, including leader guides, posters, training materials, and any other collateral they have agreed on with you. This will be sent to your locations, and Genex will continue to collaborate with your leadership team to implement your stretch and flex program.
